Fifi Chachnil celebrates 30 years in fashion
The collection will be on display in the Somerset House exhibition rooms from 14 to 18 February.
Fifi Chachnil loves femininity and, for three decades, she has created for all girls and drawn inspiration from them. From her Parisian studio and her London showroom, she strives to reassure women and introduce them to a world of sensual and frivolous beauty. Her creations are sentimental and often represent the fanciful caricature of the Parisian woman.
In 1984, Fifi launched her first collection under the name Chachnil.
A ready-to-wear collection that brought an element of drama and sparkle to clothing at a time when the deconstructed black style of Japanese designers was in fashion. It produced skating outfits, ruffled bloomers and cowgirl costumes worn by musicians, artists and the Parisian elite on and off stage.
It was during this time that she developed a habit of presenting her collections in typically Parisian locations. These venues included the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, Le Lido on the Champs Elysées and Le Crazy Horse Paris. In 1996, after an inspiring trip to Los Angeles, Fifi pursued her passion for lingerie design and launched the house of Fifi Chachnil. In the UK, Fifi Chachnil lingerie was sold exclusively at Agent Provocateur from 1996 to 2008.
Today, Fifi presents collections of ready-to-wear, lingerie, swimwear, accessories and perfumes,
accessories and perfumes. We share with you exclusive images from the Fifi Chachnil collection, photographed by Mademoiselle Fifi herself.
